Hummer H1 model reaches end of the road

Hummer H1

The Hummer H1 will soon face its extinction as GM announced that they will stop production of the gas-guzzling vehicle this coming June.

Vehicle history:

The vehicle first was marketed to the public as the Hummer in 1992 by AM General, which also makes the military version. Under a 1999 deal, GM bought marketing rights to the Hummer name and called the vehicle the Hummer H1. Based on the military's Humvee, the about 12,000 H1 models traveled the roads since 1992.

The H1 is known for its appeal among celebrities, people who loved military-styled trucks and off-road enthusiasts. Among the personalities associated with the Hummer H1 is California's governor and celebrity Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was AM General's first civilian customer, buying a custom-made conversion of the military model as well as civilian production models.

Last year, GM sold 374 H1s which is down 16 percent as compared with the 447 units sold in 2004. The continued fall in H1’s demand is what most probably prompted GM to end its production.

Hummer’s general manager Martin Walsh pointed out that GM’s decision has nothing to do with the continued rising of fuel prices and that Hummer plans to focus more on models with broader appeal.

GM however will still continue making H1’s medium-sized version which is the H2 as well as H1’s smallest version, the H3. As the H3 quickly rise to become the brand’s most popular model, there’s a strong indication that Hummer will be marketing another smaller and fuel-efficient model.

Hummer owners out there need not worry about your Hummer parts need as Auto Parts Online will still continue to give you the best offers for it. And for those who still want to have that iconic Hummer H1, you still had a chance to own one of these, as the 2006 model was offered as a high-performance H1 Alpha that costs from $130,000 to $140,000.

DNA as New Anti Theft Device

At last, Winner International made a breakthrough in the anti-theft devices by using DNA to prevent auto theft. Winner International is the famous maker of anti-theft equipment not only for cars but for homes, rooms and other places, things or stuff that you want to protect and secure from unwanted and unauthorized users.

This time, it introduced the new Club DNA Vehicle Etch Kit, an anti-theft device that can determine the vehicle’s whereabouts in case it is stolen or lost. DNA does not actually stand for the genetic stuff in our bodies but to Dual Chemistry Numeric Code Assignment. However, it also works in the same way as real DNA do through codes and combinations.

The new system works by etching the glass and metal components of the car including the windows, doors and hoods. Etched components are marked and traceable so it loses its value. The term DNA is used to refer to the unique codes assigned to the system. In this manner, the car can be easily identified and traced.

The new Club DNA Vehicle Etch Kit includes 8 glass etching stencils, latex gloves, etch cream, 6 labels for marketing metal and of course, an instruction sheet. I hope it will be available at Auto Parts Online. I actually want to try it for my car.

Recently, I brought new altezza lights and hubcaps for my car. The new light really made my Honda a stand-out especially at night with its distinct clear bluish white color.

To Lease or To Buy a Car?

It’s nice to have a car that you can call your own but which is a better choice, to lease or to buy a car? Both choices can give you the opportunity to take control of the car that you truly desire to drive but what are the pros and cons involved?

Leasing is similar to renting. Of course it involves paying money to use the car for a specified period of time. Buying on the other hand also requires money but you can be the official owner of the car once the price is paid in full. Leasing is cheaper since you only have to pay for the depreciation cost of the car while it is under your control and that is actually much lower than the monthly standard loan that you have to pay to own a car. You’re not also required to pay tax unlike when you own a car through a loan.

However, leasing is restricted by mileage specifications so you can be penalized if you go beyond the stipulated mileage specifications. Oftentimes, leasing is confusing which can make you entangled to other fees and added expenses. So make sure that you understand the terms and agreements of your leasing contact before finally jotting down your signature.

Buying can give you the opportunity to own a car and that gives you the opportunity to do whatever you want. You can modify or customize it to reflect your personal taste by adding in new headlight, tail light, spoiler, grille or hubcaps or rev up its performance by mounting OEM catalytic converter, radiator, suspension or alternator at Auto Parts Online. You can even sell it right away to buy a new one. However it may require you to spend a lot for costly repair expenses especially if the warranty has expired. The more the years the car is used, the more the expenses and the lesser the value.

This is just an overview of leasing and buying. It would be much better to ask help or advice from someone with personal experience or from someone who knows his way around this kind of thing.

Car Start-Up Spoilers

You’re all dressed up excited to meet the friend you’ve been longing to see after several years. What’s he like now? How does he look like? Has he changed? Can he still remember your old good times together? Or is there still a chance to bring back the unforgettable past? He’s leaving for New York now but good thing you managed to persuade him despite of his hectic schedule. With a smile on your face, you insert the ignition key into the switch but the car wouldn’t start. You hear the engine running but it suddenly stops. You tried it again, and again and again but still the car wouldn’t even budge. Sweat starts to form in your forehead, you clench your fist and the look of anger starts to spread out on your face.

You don’t want to spoil the moment so you hold in your temper. Better check the electrical systems and connections. However, you see nothing wrong. You’re so busy trying figure out what’s wrong with your car that you failed to notice the passing of time. Your phone beeps, “Hey been waiting for almost an hour..just meet you some other time. Next year perhaps. Miz u!“

Now you let the moment slip just because your car that won’t start!

Car failures like start-up problems can cause such counter effects not only your daily routine and plans but also to the other auto parts and system of your car. Some of the common factors for a car’s failure to start are:

1. Car Keys – You might be using the wrong key or perhaps it’s too worn-out. Or perhaps you parked your auto with the wheels turned to one side. If you did, remove the key at once. Pressure could build up on the steering lock which could prevent the key from turning. In this case, you can move the steering wheel clockwise and counterclockwise while turning the key to relieve the pressure.

2. Engine – a cranking sound that fades off can be a sign of a dead or weak battery or it could also mean that dirt and corrosion got stuck on the electrical connection. Try turning on the interior lights to determine the cause of the defect. If the light goes on, then the battery is not the culprit. Try checking the transmission, pedal, ignition switch or starter.

3. Fuel – fuel injected cars are sensitive to proper fuel pressure. Imbalance can cause serious defects in performance like a start-up problem. The fuel system of your vehicle is made up of sensitive car parts and accessories so it is better to ask assistance from your trusted mechanic. And of course don't forget to replace your car parts and accessories from tha most trusted Auto Parts Online.

Self-Changing Car Paint Color

The internet is one of my best buddies not only for pleasure and fun but for comfort and understanding as well. It is there anytime I need it anywhere I may be. In case I need new auto parts and accessories replacement for my car may it be a simple add-ons like wiper arms, mirror, hubcaps and spoiler or a high-performance radiator, catalytic converter or fuel tank, all I have to do is to click Auto Parts Online and everything is set. The internet is also one of my means to speak up and share my opinions and point of views and this blog is one of that means.

I was browsing the net the other for the latest trend in car technology and guess what I found? German researchers have come up with new car paint with colors that can change due to several factors in the environment. According to the article, they used colloid chemistry particularly ion bombardment and gold metallization process to produce new particles with bonding behavior that can be chemically tailored. In the end, you have a new car with shimmering finishes that can change with temperature or humidity and new cosmetics.

That paint would be cool for my car. But when will it be officially introduced in the market? Anyway I’ll make sure that I’ll be one of the “firsts” to use it. For now, I have to rest and go to sleep. Till then!

Hard-Earned Driving Lessons

Driving is fun but I myself learned to do it properly the hard way. My car got into several bumps and repairs before I finally learned the do’s and don’t of driving. Good thing there is Auto Parts Online for easy auto parts replacements. Let me share with you some of the hard-earned lessons I learned in driving.

Driving on Expressways

An expressway is usually tied up with a speed change lane that allows you to adjust the speed of your car before merging with the highway. Make sure that you match the traffic speed before merging with other vehicles. Maximum speed allowed is within 55-65 mph. Exits can be done either on the left or right side. Give the proper signals using your side corner lights or turn signal lights to warn other drivers of the changes in speed and direction that you will have.

Check out the vehicles at your back and on your side through the rear view and side mirrors. As much as possible, there must be plenty of spaces between your car and other vehicles running on the same street. Do not stay too close. Take note that the left lane is meant for slower traffic while the left is for faster traffic.

Driving at Night

Low lighting conditions can very much affect your vision. You may have the perfect set of eyes plus excellent quality headlights and fog lights to back you up but still the road at night may appear to be much different from broad daylight.

Glare from other lights that are too bright can also negatively affect our clear vision of the road we are driving in. That’s why it is preferable to keep your head lights in a dim mode especially if there is an oncoming car or if you’re planning to pass another vehicle. Keep the lights clean and properly positioned.

Turning and Changing Lanes

Reduce your speed if you’re changing lanes or turning around curved and intersections. Use your lights or sound your horn to inform other drivers of the changes. Watch out for warning signs especially in rural intersections. Sudden braking or steering can cause uncontrolled sliding which is too dangerous if there is car following closely behind.

BMW: A Temptation?

“Pastor Sells Church, Buys BMW.” Woah! That was actually my first reaction after stumbling over that headline in the net. I was planning to buy new replacements for my grill and bumper cover at Auto Parts Online but instead, I found myself hooked on to that eye catching headline.

I wonder what was running through this pastor’s mind when he did it. Could it be another work of the devil perhaps? Tempting the poor servant of God into doing such a ghastly deed? It could be possibly one of the works of the fallen angel however I’m thinking, “Why use a BMW?”

Personally, I am one of the BMW aficionados out there. Honestly, I am impressed by the models and specifications of the brand’s vehicle line up. The vehicles not only show top notch road performance, but it also comes with a unique style and design.

No one can actually help but be enticed by the distinct aura that BMW vehicles exude ranging from the classic BMW models that has withstood the test of time like the legendary 328 Roadster, the diesel powered Z cars, the 5 series and the 3 Series to the contemporary makes that spice up the competition in the modern market which include the new 2006 BMW M3, M5, X5, 325i, Z4, M6 and a lot more. BMW is an alluring and tempting car make equipped for superb handling and great fuel economy performance so I quite understand why the pastor seem to get out of his mind to the point of selling the church just to buy a BMW.

Well, what what’s happening in our world anyway? Is it a sign of the coming doom or just another folly of man?
